Chris Iwelumo enjoyed an illustrious career that spanned 18 club. Chris retired from the game he loves in October 2014. Over 500 appearances and 122 goals were part of a colourful career that has many highlights most notably gaining promotion to the Barclays Premier League with Champions Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2009. Chris has been lucky enough to enjoy cult status at many of the clubs he has played for due to his all action attitude and prolific partnerships he has formed with strike partners.In the last full season of his career Chris returned to his native Scotland and was part of a St Johnstone squad that went on to win the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park
Whilst at Wolves Chris fulfilled his boyhood dream of representing his beloved Scotland including the now infamous debut vs Norway at Hampden Park. This game has now become synonymous with Chris and it’s the moment he gets remembered for most. “The Norway Heel “
As Chris is developing his second career he is a man in demand from all sides of the media. Both TV and Radio audiences are loving his insight and honest opinion on the games hot topics. An appearance on Soccer AM proved to be a hit with the fans after he took the regular showing of the “Norway Heel” miss in great spirits. Working with BT Sport, Talksport and Signal Radio Chris is building a new fan base that appreciate his banter and insight.
Having decided to commit to the media Chris graduated in 2016 from his journalism and media degree. This has seen him secure work as one of the main anchors at Stoke TV interviewing ex Stoke City players and staff. His natural and relaxed demeanour already seeing him gaining a lot of interest from broadcast partners.
Chris is also a qualified UEFA A and B licensed coach and isn’t ruling out developing a career in management or coaching, having worked with some great managers and players.
